Special Educational Needs

St. Michael's First School embraces and has adopted the principles and practices outlined in the revised Code of Practice (January 2015).

At St. Michael’s First School, we have a designated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDco) who works closely with the Senior Leadership Team, school staff and parents, in meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).

The School SENDco, Lisa Yewdell, can be contacted via the school office on: 01785 712344 or on email lisa@st-michaels-penkridge.staffs.sch.uk

SEND provision, is delivered throughout school by a combination of high quality first teaching; reasonable adjustments; targeted interventions; and the use of the Graduated Response. We adopt the principles and practices as set out in the SEND Code of Practice (January 2015).

St. Michael’s First School is also part of the South Staffordshire SEND Transformation Prototype and forms part of the Penkridge Hub. Further information about this can be found at:
