Year 4 Spring term

Our learning this term
This half term Year 4 will be learning about the polar regions in their topic 'Arctic and Antarctic Explorers'. The current topic web for this term can be found below. It provides information about the topics children will cover in each subject area for the rest of the Spring term.
In Year 4, we have been learning about the Northern Lights and recreating them using watercolours.
We worked with a partner to create our own diary entry, in the style of an Arctic explorer.
We created polar landscapes using charcoal and chalk.
The current homework is to continue to use TT Rockstars, Education City and Bug Club. If you need your log in details, please let Mrs Smith know.

National Day of Reflection

Tuesday 23rd March marks a year since the beginning of the first UK lockdown. In that time, many families have felt the impact of COVID-19 whether through bereavement, illness or more widely, the impact of schools and businesses closing on mental health and livelihoods. Marie Curie are promoting a national day of reflection, where we take time to reflect on the year that has gone by but also to look forward to the brighter times ahead.

In Year 4, we have been writing messages to families who have lost someone through the pandemic, that we will be attaching to the school railings, along with spring flowers that we have painted.


World Book Week
We took part in a whole World Book Week this year, during our last week of lockdown. Year 4 brought their work back to school to share with each other, and we were able to use it to create an amazing class display.
Our class author was Enid Blyton and we began by reading some of 'The Enchanted Wood', imagining our own lands and creating a story linked to a special, magical tree.
